Artist's Comments

I love couples that have long history. They remind us the power, the beauty of living and the joy of life. Lately I've been really into old couples, especially afro american couples. I was going through some stock photo sites and they kept poping out, smiling old people with not a fake smile. Or if they did, with very good ones, because being happy is one of the hardest things to fake. We think it's seasy, but the easiest things usually are the worst.

Then I came across a young couple, in their early 30s, and thought, why not? Haven't done something like drawing portrates for ages. But then I saw an older lady and I loved her look and a bit later also an older man with marvelous white/grey/black beard and the young couple suddenly changed in older couple. So, though I planned a 1 on 1 picture, I put it together from several photos, if you'd have the original next, it would look like that couple after 30 years. Still, thank you to all the lovely people, who put out their photos to help others :)

Yeah... It must be really nice to be forever happy with the same person, right? Great portrait...!
